In another wave of the Covid-19 in its evolution as the Delta Variant, Cebu City’s Hospitals has been in need of lots of blood for the many Covid patients this August. Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in collaboration with JCI Metro Cebu Uptown and Don Bosco TVET Center organized another bloodletting activity at the Don Bosco TVET Center Gym. This was a controlled group of volunteers from the Military Detachment, CLICK Squad and Batch 47 of our students. We hope that the blood collected will save many lives.
Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban took advantage of the break between training to check and repair the plant / equipment of the Center.
This new wave of Covid 19, now known as the Delta Variant is more infectious as the original virus. For months now, stock piling of PPE’s has been done by an NGO called All-Terrain Medical Relief Organization (AMRO). They have partnered with Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban in the final sealing of the PPEs for the health workers. On behalf of AMRO, Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban turned-over 200 PPEs to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Balamban.
Batch 47 started their lessons in Technical Drawing. This comprises of two parts: 1. the basics of the lettering, alphabet of lines, geometric objects, orthographic projection and isometric. 2. Basic Autocad.
The staff of Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban were able to finalized the “Risk Management Plan Manual”(RMPM) last August 9, 2021. The process started many months ago with the stake holders attending a Risk Management Plan Seminar organized by the Don Bosco One TVET Philippines National Office, then last July the staff had a 2-day presentation of the skeletal components of the RMPM and did the SWOT Analysis. Finally, last August 9 they drafted and approved the RMPM. The next step is to have it checked by Ms. Romelia “Poupee” S. Mendina and then eventually by October 2021 its implementation.
Fr. Brian Butanas joined the forum with Aljun Diamante, Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Tuburan, Cebu, Boboi Costas, former Cebu Provincial Tourism officer and now sustainable tourism consultant and founder of Grassroots Travel and Baltazar Tribunalo, Consultant on Community Development discussed plans with Fr. Vic Labao of Kabilin Nature Farm and Bamboo Center, Benjo Labuca of JCI Metro Cebu Uptown the opportunities for Bamboo enterprise for Tuburan, Cebu and its impact to ecotourism. This is part of networking for Green Initiatives of our TVET Center and a response to the challenge of “Laudato Si” of Pope Francis.
The owner of JB Rock engaged with Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban by subcontracting the metal fabrications and electrical installations in a House of Prayer. The Income Generating Project (IGP) has helped the sustainability of the center during this pandemic.
Last August 1, Mrs. Mildred Uy of the Cordova Department of Agriculture with some parents visited their “Cordova Boys” and our TVET students to share many blessings and food supplies for the training of Batch 47. God bless you always.
