Don Bosco TVET BalambanCleofas Escarpe paid a visit to Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban last February 2, 2021. He was a former student residing at PUGAD of St. John Bosco Parish Makati, MetroManila. He volunteered to clean our guests’ AC as way giving back to Don Bosco. He also taught Batch 45 some basics of window type AC. He also volunteered to train our students in other DOMRAC NCII competencies. DOMRAC is a supplemental skill of our students at Don Bosco. God bless you always Cleofas.
This is first of many series of orientation for Bamboo Enterprise and livelihood program in partnership with Kabilin Nature Farms and Bamboo Center, JCI Metro Cebu Uptown and Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban.
Last December 30, 2020, our holy novices headed by Fr. Philip Lazatin and Fr. Jomar Bacucang paid a short visit to Don Bosco Balamban. Once they arrived at 8:30 am, they had mass with Lauds and then after mass, they shared with us their “binalot” (rice with toppings of meat and vegetables wrapped in banana leaves – Mynamar style). It was so delicious – missed it too.
Before they left they shared with us some blessings from their selling of “atsara” or pickled papaya during the simbang gabi in Lawaan.
Thank you and till next year another visit to a Don Bosco in the periphery – we appreciate so much the visit.

JCI Metro Cebu Uptown with AMRO turned over the pledged lights for the gym, basketball shorts and company uniforms for Batch 45 last December 20, 2020.
We also took the occassion to bless the ANCOP Mobile Training Van. A buffet lunch followed sponsored by JCI. The Christmas activity was done following all health protocols and social distancing.

Fr. Brian Butanas and Batch 45 students joined the “Bloodletting: donate and save lives” activity held at Asturias Gymnasium last December 6, 2020.
Fr. Brian Butanas made a visit to Virginia Farms’ President Engr. Rolando Tambago for a possible Agro-Entrepreneurship Program partnership with Don Bosco. He was also able to meet Asturias Councilor Margarita Cece and 3rd District Congressman Pablo John Garcia. (December 2, 2020)
The Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban BOT representatives (Fr. Brian Butanas, Dr. Eugene Ynclino IV and Fr. Lan Guiao) visited the Office of Councilor Donaldo Hontiveros last December 1, 2021 to discuss the possibility of conducting SMAW NCII Mobile Training to the poor youth of the Mountain Barangays of Cebu City between the boundaries of the City and Balamban.
This is our belief and challenge to go to the peripheries to answer the challenge of Pope Francis to get out of ourselves and find the poor, the lost and the abandoned in the peripheries.
Some students and staff trekked to Mt. Manuggal to visit a Catholic Church Sitio Chapel to say mass and at the same time assess the roofing structure of the dilapidated chapel. This is upon request of Dr. Ily Abella’s group who also distributed backpacks to the children.
Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban has been contracted to rehabilitate the roofing of the chapel as part of its outreach program. The Group of Dr. Ily Abella will solicit the funds and Don Bosco will provide the labor for the rehabilitation.
Don Bosco One TVET Philippines once again supported the faculty development program of Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban. This time the staff attended the Bamboo Primer Seminar of Fr. Vic Labao SJ of Kabilin Nature Farms and Bamboo Center held last November 26 at our campus and the practicum to be held at Kabilin. This is in preparation for the roll-out of the Bamboo Production NCII qualification at Don Bosco.
