Don Bosco TVET BalambanDon Bosco One TVET Philippines once again supported the faculty development program of Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban. This time the staff attended the Bamboo Primer Seminar of Fr. Vic Labao SJ of Kabilin Nature Farms and Bamboo Center held last November 26 at our campus and the practicum to be held at Kabilin. This is in preparation for the roll-out of the Bamboo Production NCII qualification at Don Bosco.
Fr. Brian and staff visited a housing project of LAMAC for its coop members which are being built by our partner construction company JARC. This will be a good venue for the Supervised Industry Learning (SIL) of Batch 45. The students will be exposed to stairwell fabrication and installation and Electrical Installation and Maintenance in the housing units. (November 25, 2020)
Don Bosco One TVET Philippines sponsored the training of the staff of Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban in Bee Keeping NC II at the Balamban Apiarists for Nature & Agriculture – (BANaAg), Inc campus at E.S. Binghay St. Balamban. During the 2 day seminar the participants learned the following: 1. the importance of Bees in the cycle of life and food production 2. the different types of Bees, 3. how to introduce Queen Bees to a new colony, 4. Brood Manipulation 5. Pest and Disease Management 6. Bee Frame Assembly and 7. Harvesting of honey. (November 21-22, 2020)
Fr. Brian SDB, Fr. Lan Guiao SDB and Dr. Eugene Ynclino IV representing Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Alex Binghay last November 16, 2020.
Fr. Brian presented the works of Don Bosco in Balamban and made inquiries on the CIPDI proceedings when Don Bosco Balamban was being planned in the 90’s. Don Bosco is looking for a possibility of expanding its lot area to accommodate more students and programs.
A Don Bosco campus will never be without its playground. Indeed it is always true that in all Don Bosco schools, we find this saying: Run, jump and shout but do not sin. The playground was always a psychological laboratory of Don Bosco, he discovered the characters and developed character of his boys in the playground and he gave his famous “whispered words of advice” in the playground.
The Don Bosco Greywolves were officially formed last November 2020 with the help of friends, benefactors and alumni of DBTC Punta Princesa. We thank all of them for their generous hearts and may God bless them always specially during this pandemic.
Dr. Wilfreda D. Bongalos, the Lapu-lapu Schools Division Superintendent and her team made a benchmarking visit of Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban for a possible JDVP for their SHS Students through the Mobile Training Facilities of DB TVET Center Balamban. (November 2, 2020)
Councilor Dondon Hontiveros took time to visit one of the Don Bosco TVET Centers in the peripheries – Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban last October 25, 2020. His visit brought a lot of joy to our staff who are basketball fans of former Cebu’s Hotshot. He donated boxes of RESCUE Alcohol to help us prepare to conduct our face to face classes as permitted by TESDA and the LGU.
Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban joined the Archdiocese of Cebu, the St. Francis of Assisi Parish, JCI Metro Cebu Uptown, AMRO and other civic minded organizations in the orientation for Bamboo Enterprise and Livelihood Program.
This will be a big step and great opportunity for networking with ecclesial and civic organizations for the eventual roll-out of the planned Bamboo Production NCII at DB TVET Center Balamban.
Our big thanks to Huxevel for the donation of test kits for COVID 19 as Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban is busy preparing and is accepting the challenge of continuing its offering of the best technical vocational education for poor and deserving youth. We must comply with the health protocols of the LGU and of TESDA in order to be able to conduct face to face lessons or Blended Learning to new students – Batch 45.
Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban joined the Holy Family Parish, Luca, Balamban, JCI Metro Cebu Uptown and other partner organizations in the activities of the World Bamboo Day 2020 held at the Holy Family Parish and the World Clean-up Day 2020 held at Buswang Lake, Asturias, Cebu.
