Welcome Batch 48

We welcome Batch 48 to Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban. The applicants have started coming in last May 16, 2022. There will be 25 TESDA TWSP Scholars and the students from the 3rd District of Cebu will be enrolled in the Cebu Provincial Scholarship and Livelihood Program (SUGBO KAHANAS) through the help of Atty. Jimbo Borgonia (Board Member and Fellow Bosconian).

Fr. Brian Butanas has welcomed the early birds last Monday. The new students will now start their Induction and Endurance Program as Batch 48. We pray that they will become good christians and honest citizens of our nation. Welcome Batch 48 to the wonderful world of BOSCONIANS.

All our staff are fully vaccinated with booster shots and all applicants accepted are fully vaccinated. The SMAW NCI and NCII training will be in a bubble and will follow all Covid Protocols

Woodworking Shop Extension

An extension of the small woodworking mini shop was extended to accommodate maintenance job orders and possible production jobs as part of the “Training with Production.”

FELCO and EIM NCII

Mr. Sherwin Etol visited Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban EIM NCII Classroom and Laboratory. Mr. Etol is representing FELCO as a future partner in the training of Bosconians in Electrical Installation and Maintenance.

Water is Back

Abesamis Drilling Company has finally repaired our Water Pump today. The new pump that they had installed last January conked out only after a month and a half of operation. Hopefully this time the water pump will last us for many years to come.

B48 Admission Test

Applicants for Batch 48 took the Power Test of TESDA at our Admin Testing Office. Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban has chosen the Power Test as the official the admission exams for all incoming students.

The Power Test is divided into 3 categories: 1. Training Numeracy Test (TNT) which will test you on mathematical proficiency; 2. Training Literacy Test (TLT) which will test your language/English proficiency and; 3. Occupational Literacy Test (OLT) which tests your technical proficiency in many technical jobs.

TESDA has given only 20 Scholarships for our incoming Batch 48 Bosconians. This is only the first step in our Admission and Induction Program for new students.

The Induction Program will continue right after the May 9 elections. Good luck guys.

Provincial Visitation

Our Provincial Superior Fr. Fidel Ma. Orendain conducted his yearly Visitation of the Community of the Provincial House and Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban. This is part of the animation duties of the Provincial of seeing to it that all the Salesian Settings remain in line with the Charism of St. John Bosco. Welcome Fr. Fidel and Thank you for the friendly visit.

The Salesians of Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban and Don Bosco Provincial House gathered on Holy Monday at the St. Francis of Sales Chapel at Don Bosco Formation House in Lawaan for a Lenten Recollection in preparation for the Easter Triduum.

ACCERT Orientation

The Anti-Crime and Community Emergency Response Team (ACCERT) Orientation was conducted at Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban as part of laying the groundwork for networking with different emergency response teams from the LGU and NGOs.The ACCERT team conducted Module 1 and Module 2 ofAnti-Crime and Community Emergency Response Team (ACCERT) that included its Mission, Vision, Core Values, ByLaws, its organization partners and other inputs.

The orientation activity has been participated by Click Squad Cebu Inc. West Chapter members, the AloPin Chapter members, the Don Bosco Staff, the Don Bosco Scholars and others.This is in line with the FIS Province’s thrust that individual Don Bosco Settings should set up its own emergency response in times of emergencies and disaster.

Bambu Geodesic Dome

A BAMBU GEODESIC DOME ASSEMBLY workshop was rolled out at Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban. This one-day workshop was a collaboration between the Philippine Institute of Architects (PIA) -Cebu, Don Bosco and Bamboo Horizons.

The workshop included the Basics of Bamboo, the Computation of a Geodesics Dome and the hands on Assembly of a 6 meter diameter Geodesic Dome.The same Bamboo workshop was done last April 6, 2022 at Don Bosco Boys Home Liloan.

We thank our Bosconian Architects – Arch. Bryan Auman for sharing his advocacy for bamboo as a sustainable source of lumber for construction, Arch. Eric Nacorda representing PIA-Cebu for facilitating the roll-out of this bamboo workshop and Mr. Robert of Bamboo Horizons.

This workshop is in line with Don Bosco TVET Center Balamban’s advocacy for a Green TVET and eventually for providing green jobs to the community.
